Celebrating 18 at 100

I’ve always heard about revolving restaurants whenever my family and I visit other countries, and it has always been fascinating to me. The idea was just really ingenious! I’ve been wanting to try one, but I never got the chance to since I was occupied with other activities, so to speak (*cough shopping *cough).

Much to my surprise, there was actually a revolving restaurant here in Manila: 100 Revolving Restaurant by Chef Jessie Sinsioco of Le Souffle, and it has been in Eastwood all this time! My gosh how did I miss it? Coincidentally, my birthday was also coming up when I found out about the place, so we booked a reservation there for the 31st of May.

You could say I was pretty excited. Hehe.

Alas, my birthday finally arrived, which was the day after my debut! Oh diba! The party never stops! 

The place is on top of the MDC 100 Building, and it’s a bit confusing to get there since you have to go to the ground floor first and when you get there, you’ll have to go into another elevator in order to get to the 33rd floor, but no worries because the staff is trained to assist customers.  The elevator is not as fast as one would expect, but it’s manageable, and you can even have conversations while going up. The elevator will go ding! and then voila you’re at the top of the world  building!

The restaurant has a delightful romantic ambience; the guy in the elevator with us was even planning to propose (my mom saw the ring hihi!). The dim lights, the candles, and the city lights, if this does not scream romantic, then I don’t know what does.

The restaurant revolves after a few minutes. I mean, here I was enjoying  my meal and admiring the city lights, then suddenly I turn around and realize that I have moved from the kitchen side to a more secluded area! The revolving motion was really subtle for me!

We had the classic French onion soup first, since the restaurant serves French cuisine after all 😉

It tasted like any other French Onion soup that you would find in a French restaurant, which is delicious if you ask me, but I was looking for the 100 Revolving Restaurant’s take on this classic.

My family absolutely loves steak so my father, brother, and I ordered the Angus Rib Eye. My mother, being the sea bass lover that she is, stayed true to her preference by getting the Chilean Sea Bass. Naloka ako sa steak sauce, because there were not one, not two, not three, but FOUR sauces you can choose from: Bourguignonne (good luck nalang sa pagpronounce), Creamy Pepper, Wild Mushroom, and Goose Liver sauce. The steak was delicious; it, however, tasted like the typical steaks we eat elsewhere.

OH. MY. GOSH. THE SEA BASS IS SO GOOD. I WOULD SERIOUSLY COME BACK TO THIS PLACE EVERY TIME JUST TO TASTE THEIR SEA BASS. It’s so fresh and it melts in your mouth! Don’t even get me started with the goose liver. The goose liver was absolutely exquisite and très délicieux! You put these two together in one plate and you’ve made a masterpiece. Wow. Truly mouthwatering. I have no more words to say for this dish. It is perfect. Thank you Chef Jessie.

You know what they say, there is always room for dessert, and in the Ong family, there certainly is!

We ordered soufflé of course! ~ Nothing like eating soufflé in a restaurant that serves French cuisine! There are A LOT of flavors to choose from, but we settled for Vanilla, Strawberry, and Blueberry.

Ahh-mazing~ I love the moistness and the flavors of the soufflé! Definitely 5 out of 5!

100 Revolving Restaurant is truly one of its kind. Where else can you eat delicious French food while enjoying a 360-degree view of the city lights and the Manila skyline? I’d definitely be back here for the sea bass and the soufflé (perhaps, with a special someone next time? Kidding! That special someone is my mother lol).
