Would you believe me that despite the long summer break, my best friends and I only got to go out at Tricia’s birthday lunch?
Well, Reena went home to Brunei after my debut and Tricia was busy watching over their business (naks)
Finally, the day arrived, and I was so excited!!! Reena woke me up early at around 8:30 am and we went to mass together with her brother Charles, who’s now officially a college freshman~
After mass, we immediately went to Glorietta to buy cakes from Paper Moon! We arrived at around 10:30am and thank God there was no pila! Early bird gets the worm hohohoho~
Paper Moon was founded by Madame Emy Wada, who was also the founder of the famous Lady M cakes in New York and later sold it to Ken Romaniszyn. She closed Paper Moon in Japan and was set out to retire, but luckily VIVA’s Vicente del Rosario convinced her to open a shop in Manila. Lo and behold, it’s finally here!
Assortment of Crepe Cakes!
Bought some for my brother!
We went to buy some candles afterwards and then went to Torch!~ I was so hungry because I wasn’t able to eat breakfast.
We were earlier than Tricia, as planned, so we connived with the Torch staff to turn the Papermoon chocolate mille crepe into a mini birthday cake!~ They were so game, I love it!~
We were led to this private area, which was perfect because it felt intimate and my bffs and I get really loud when we’re together (with me being the loudest).
Tricia arrived a few minutes later and she really sported this birthday girl glow! She’s been working out to HIT videos and doing her yoga thing, which I tried but gave up on. She was like ‘order everything you want’ so I went for the truffle dishes! Mwahaha! THANKS TRISHIE~~
OMG WE WERE SO HAPPY BECAUSE OF ALL THE FOOD. I SAID ‘ISN’T THIS SO FUN?! EATING SO MANY FOOD. EATING IS LIFE!’
Let’s just say we ordered more than the family behind our table.
First up, TRUFFLE FRIES!~
Truffle Fries (P245.95). I’d give this:
I didn’t get to taste the truffle that much and the dip was too strong that it overpowered the truffle flavor. Still, fries and truffle are always good.
Torch’s Signature Roll (P399.95). I’d give this:
It has soft shell crab, ebi tempura, and tamago. It’s really good, and I’d give this a five if I haven’t already tasted OOMA’s Soft Shell Crab Maki.
White Truffle Sausage Pizza (P449.95). I’d give this:
IT’S SO SIMPLE YET IT’S SO GOOD. OUR EYES LITERALLY ROLLED BACKWARDS WHEN WE TASTED THIS. AHH MY LOVE FOR TRUFFLE~~
Tartufo Pasta (P545.95). I’d give this:
Another Truffle dish!!! My bffs indulge me so much *cries* GRABE I LOVE THIS PASTA, IT’S SO CREAMY, AND THE TRUFFLE TASTE STOOD OUT!
Salpicao Medallion (P479.95). I’d give this:
Of course there had to be steak! ~ It’s slow cooked on a marble plate so we had it done in medium rare, but it ended up being well done because the burner underneath was still cooking it. It tasted great with the sauce and the bacon, almost like a fillet mignon.
While we were eating, Reena and I were whispering to each other mid-conversation and we kept glancing at the waitresses, so Tricia said “I’ll just pretend that I don’t see anything” OMG we were so obvious!
Anyways, when Tricia took a bathroom break, we took our chance and gave the go signal to the staff. A few minutes after she returned, the staff started singing her a Happy Birthday and she was like ‘eto pala yung mga pinagbubulong niyo diyan ha!’ LOL , BUT AREN’T WE THE SWEETEST?~
I love what they’ve done with the cake! And, as expected, we devoured it in seconds!
Here comes the opening of presents! ~
Reena gave her the bag she has always wanted~
“YAHS YAHS!”, Tricia said as she raised her hands with glee.
Last year, I pranked Tricia by disguising my gift in a Kettle box I asked from Reena. There was a typhoon at that time, so I told her it’d be useful. She was pretending to be happy, it was so funny! It was actually an EXO album and a lip balm from Nature Republic with her ultimate bae’s face.
This time, it was no different.
Recently, she has been posting in her Instagram account her cooking escapades with the hashtag #TriciaCooks, so I thought it’d be a great prank to pretend to give her an Ina Garten cookbook since we were both huge fans of Ina Garten and she can use it for her cooking.
Ever since ‘The Lost Planet’ Concert DVD of EXO went available for sale, she has been telling me to get it for her birthday and I always tell her no because it’s expensive. Kpop merchandise are pricey and we go broke from buying them, this she knows too well. BUT…I HAD ALREADY PRE-ORDERED MWAHAHAHA!
What I did was wrap the DVD, which was as big and as heavy as a cookbook, in a National Bookstore paperbag that I got from back-to-school shopping, and then I put it in a plain gift bag. Oh diba~
She was really happy about the cookbook, but then she got even happier when she saw the concert DVD!
“You got me a cookbook? AW!”
That’s the look of someone who got pranked for 2 years in a row! :))
Her face when she saw her bae in HD :)) My mom always imitates her fangirling and this is the exact expression!
Three DVDs of pure concert awesomeness all to herself~
It’s her birthday, she should definitely get what she wants! ❤
Tricia vowed not to be pranked by me anymore. Heh~ We’ll see about that~
We did some shopping after eating (TRICIA BOUGHT A LOT) and had some Chococros and Macha and Mango flavored parfaits at St. Marc Café (BUT OF COURSE) and then we watched Mission Impossible because Tricia has a huge crush on Jeremy Renner!
Tricia looked very happy on that day and she was just glowing. It made me so happy seeing that big smile on her face!~ We love you Tricia!~
Umaariba nanaman kami!
It was a very fun day of excellent food, shopping, film watching, and chikas, and just being with my girls made it even more perfect! ❤
