GOSH I MISSED THIS. Hello! It’s me! How have all of you been? Are you feeling the Christmas spirit already???
AND YES, IT’S CHRISTMAS BREAK!!! DOESN’T CHRISTMAS JUST MAKES YOU FEEL WARM, HAPPY, AND FUZZY INSIDE? LIKE YOU WANNA WEAR AN UGLY CHRISTMAS SWEATER AND DRINK HOT CHOCO AS YOU LISTEN TO MICHAEL BUBLÉ’S CHRISTMAS ALBUM?
I’ve already done my Christmas shopping, which is exciting, but S T R E S S F U L, I don’t even know how I managed to squeeze this in my busy busy schedule.
Allow me to say to you that I’m very satisfied with my grades this term~ I couldn’t believe I would get those since I’m in my majors now and things have gotten extra difficult that I don’t even have time to do other stuff anymore, but hey I got a chance to be part of APEC 2015 (WHICH WAS AMAZEBALLS)! Anyways, because of this, I AM VERY HAPPY and I am feeling super inspired to write! ~~
A few weeks back, my parents were in the city for some appointments, while I was holed up in Taft buried with readings and homework 😦 Fortunately, I was born in the 21st century and we have Grab and Uber now. My parents called me up saying they wanna meet up at Lung Hin Marco Polo, and I, of course, immediately agreed! So I quickly finished my French homework and booked a ride!
I really gotta say, what a time to be alive. I’m so elated that we have Grab and Uber now because I can go wherever I want without worrying for my safety. It’s definitely a lot safer than other modes of transportation, and since I hate queueing, I’m all aboard on Grab and Uber vehicles!
Lung Hin is not your traditional Chinese restaurant with the red tablecloths and abundance of gold decor. Its chic interiors and expansive layout is a delight to the eyes and its contemporary Cantonese cuisine will make you go WOW! They also have function rooms which are perfect for intimate gatherings.
We requested to be seated by the window and was presented with a wonderful view of the city at night.
You probably already know how obsessed I am with truffle, so the Steamed Pork Siomai with Truffle Sauce caught my eye the minute I opened the menu.
Pork Siomai with Truffle Sauce (P228.00). I’d give this:
I love how creative this dish is! Truffle with dimsum? Who would have thought! And it certainly did not lack in the taste department! A+! GAHH I LOVE IT I WANT AN UNLIMITED SUPPLY IN OUR HOME!
Next is a classic that every Chinese restaurant should have: Sweet & Sour Pork. If the siomai had truffles, this one had…*drum roll* BLUE BERRIES!
Sweet and Sour Pork with Blue Berries (P488.00). I’d give this:
Ugh I was expecting this to taste ordinary because hello it’s super common, BUT NOOOO THEY ALSO NAILED THIS ONE. It wasn’t too sweet nor sour and the taste of the pork is apparent! I didn’t even taste the blue berries!
Also had some good ol’ wanton noodles for long life hehehe! It was served to us by portion.
Wanton Noodles (P388.00). I’d give this:
It’s not something that will blow your mind (and tastebuds) but it’s quite flavorful. 🙂
MY GOSH HERE COMES THE CHAR SIU. I’ve always loved Char Siu, and theirs made me love it more! It’s sweet barbecue sauce and the tenderness of the pork will have your eyes rolling in the back of your heads!
Honey Barbecue Pork (P580.00). I’d give this:
Okay finally, here comes the highlight of the evening…
THE PEKING DUCK.
I’ve always thought that all the peking duck in the Manila are subpar as compared to the ones in Hong Kong.
Not until I got to taste this baby.
THIS IS OFFICIALLY MY SECOND FAVORITE PEKING DUCK EVER (Mott 32’s is first) AND THE ONLY FAVORITE IN MANILA.
Roast Peking Duck (P3,800.00). I’d give this:
They served it to us with hoisin sauce and wrapper. Usually I like it without the wrapper because I get to taste more of the skin, but this time, even with the wrapper on, I was able to perfectly taste the crispiness and saltiness of the skin. It was that good. The meat also usually tends to be bland without the sauce and is hard to chew, but Lung Hin’s Peking duck can go by itself without any sauce! I was really impressed, I didn’t expect it to be this mouthwatering.
YOU MUST TRY THIS. MANILA FINALLY HAS A RAVE-WORTHY PEKING DUCK!
Lung Hin serves legit high quality Cantonese food. I felt like I was in Hong Kong! No wonder because they have a Michelin Star Chef! Hands down, one of the frontrunners of Chinese cuisine in Manila!
