Sunnies Studios has become one of the leading local retail brands in the Philippines because of their stylish and affordable eyewear, which is why it has caused quite a stir among the millennials when the brand announced that they will be opening up a cafe.
With the very hipster and youthful style of the brand, I was really excited to witness an Instagram feed come to life in a form of a cafe.
When my good friend Kurt asked to meet up in BGC for lunch, I suggested that we should go to Sunnies Cafe.
The place is not difficult to spot because of its glass panels, pink doors, and the wide pink wall with its name.

I really loved the atmosphere when I walked in. They had nice and chill music, the servers were chirpy, the place was luminous, and the interior was so hip! Every nook was so instragram worthy, and they even had a lounge upstairs (which sadly cannot be used at the moment). They made sure there were enough halamans to serve as props for IG pictures and the cutlery holder was made of marble, another millennial favorite. There was also a bar section with goblets instead of typical cocktail glasses. I love the overall muted pastel motif!
I was happy that they served cocktails and milkshakes, as well as all-day brunch!
Kurt ordered the Honey Garlic Crispy Chicken while I got the Butcher’s Steak. We also ordered the White Truffle Cream pasta. For our drinks, we both got the Passion Fruit Iced Tea.
They served the food quickly, which was great because I was famished!
Honey Garlic Crispy Chicken (P290.00). I’d give this:
I could really feel the honey and garlic flavor seeping in my tastebuds! Usually crispy chicken tends to be a bit dry, but they were very tender and juicy.
Butcher’s Steak (P480.00). I’d give this:
If you read my blog, you’d know that I’m a big fan of steak! In addition, my favorite vegetables of all time are potatoes and french beans, and so when I saw that they had all my three favorites in one dish, GIRL I WAS SOLD.
First of all, THE STEAK WAS SO GOOD and it’s under 500! Since it’s a cafe, I didn’t really expect much, but WOW. A good steak for a good price! I think the sauce was a red wine sauce, and it was not overwhelming! I would really come back for this. The sides were delicious as well! Oh, and that’s not brown rice by the way, it’s a very flavorful white rice. Overall, a splendid dish.
White Truffle Cream (P340.00). I’d give this:
Aside from potatoes and steak, I ABSOLUTELY LOVE TRUFFLES. It’s very predictable that I would order this dish and I SURE AM DOWNRIGHT ECSTATIC THAT I DID.
The grana padano and the parmesan cheese perfectly blended with the truffle cream. They were generous with the truffle! I am just so overjoyed with this dish. It is so so so so GOOOOOD! If only I could eat this everyday (is it possible to have it delivered to my house) !The only downside to this dish is that the serving is not enough!!! I need more!
Everything was goooood
I loved the food so much that a few days later, I went to its Megamall branch with my brother.
He got the Butcher’s Steak while I tried the Crab Fat Rice Bowl. Of course, I ordered the White Truffle Cream pasta again; can’t get enough!
My brother really loved the Butcher’s Steak! He scarfed the whole plate clean!
Crab Fat Rice Bowl (P250.00). I’d give this:
Turns out it was a veggie omelette! The veggies were yummy, but I got umay na after a while. That aside, the crab fat fried rice was a winner!! Those bits of crab fat were scrumptious!
We ordered milkshakes for a drink. I got the Salted Caramelsutra while my bro got the Kimye (LOL AT THE NAMES).
The Salted Caramelsutra was too sweet for my liking and it would have been better without the malted milk. The Kimye tasted like your typical cookies and cream flavored ice cream.
All in all, Sunnies Cafe is awesome! I recommend going to their BGC branch because their Megamall one is an open space and is situated right smack at the hallway of the mall so if want very chill vibes, go to the BGC one. The interior is better as well.
I’m happy that the brand’s style is reflected in the cafe’s aesthetic and I’m so impressed with the quality and taste of the food! Definitely a great place to hang out with your friends!
