Yes, you read it right. All Day Breakfast. Yipee!
Sometimes, it’s just not enough to eat breakfast during, well, breakfast. The mouthwatering smell of bacon, sausages, pancakes, and scrambled eggs always keeps our palates craving for their taste. For some reason, most of our go-to comfort food belong in the breakfast selection, and it’s probably because they remind us of cozy mornings spent in our homes as our mothers busy themselves in the kitchen.
Fortunately, restaurants have caught up in our daily cravings. Among these palate satisfiers is Single Origin where my mom and I went to catch up with close family friends, and it’s not your typical breakfast place.
Usually, restos that serve All Day Breakfast exude a very homey or diner-ish vibe, but Single Origin boasts of a relaxed space with chic brick walls lined up with wines and coffee gears, which is perfect for people who just want to unwind or study. Also, if you’re a bookish hipster who wears non-prescription glasses, then this is the place for you 😉
You know me, I love cheese and prosciutto, so we started off with the Cold Cuts and Cheese platter. The cheeses were so good, as well as the prosciutto! Just the type of cheese that I want, salty with a buttery and rich texture. The grapes balanced the saltiness too.
Cold Cuts and Cheese (P595.00). I’d give this:
and of course next up is my other ultimate fave of all time….TRUFFLE FRIES!!!!!! (I’d put more exclamation marks to emphasize how passionate I am about potatoes but I don’t wanna seem creepy so..)
No need for further elaboration. Instant 5 Des Points!!!!!
Truffle Fries (P180.00). I’d give this:
Not a fan of fish but this one’s really soft, tender, and flavorful. Lakas maka-healthy!
White Fish Omelette (P250.00). I’d give this:
I expected a lot in this dish because the staff recommended it and because anything with TRUFFLE is generally good, but I was underwhelmed. I did not taste the truffle that much. It actually didn’t taste like a truffle pasta; it’s more of like an aglio olio with bacon.
White Truffle Pasta (P450.00). I’d give this:
Crab fat, I know. Just looking at the name makes you feel unhealthy already, but it’s worth it! It’s jampacked with flavors and the taste of crab fat is so dominant! I also liked that they included scallops and shrimp. Very delish!
Crab Fat Pasta (P375.00). I’d give this:
Eggs Benedict is actually my go-to comfort food at night. I don’t know why, but for some reason I’d crave for it at around 6pm lol. Good thing there’s a CBTL in front of our condo! Anyway, this meant that eggs benedict is my absolute fave and so I was quite excited to try the ones in Single Origin. The corned beef is not your ordinary shredded corned beef, but it’s more of like a ham type. It was delicious and its saltiness was just right! The hollandaise sauce of the eggs benedict had the right amount of creaminess and tanginess.
Home Made Corned Beef Benedict (P350.00). I’d give this:
Single Origin also has a wide selection of specialty coffee, tea, craft beers, wine, and cocktails. It’s the ultimate hang-out place for coffee connoisseurs! Their service is impeccable and the staff are so chirpy and nice! If you want to have a nice breakfast in a very chill and chic place, then head over to Single Origin!
This new breakfast place just might be my next favorite restaurant, and yours too!
