Sometimes, it’s just not enough to eat breakfast during, well, breakfast. The mouthwatering smell of bacon, sausages, pancakes, and scrambled eggs always keeps our palates craving for their taste. For some reason, most of our go-to comfort food belong in the breakfast selection, and it’s probably because they remind us of cozy mornings spent in our homes as our mothers busy themselves in the kitchen.
Fortunately, restaurants have caught up in our daily cravings. Among these palate satisfiers is Single Origin where my mom and I went to catch up with close family friends, and it’s not your typical breakfast place.
Usually, restos that serve All Day Breakfast exude a very homey or diner-ish vibe, but Single Origin boasts of a relaxed space with chic brick walls lined up with wines and coffee gears, which is perfect for people who just want to unwind or study. Also, if you’re a bookish hipster who wears non-prescription glasses, then this is the place for you 😉
There’s always this one restaurant that I always pass by everyday but never got to try. One would think that I have already done so since it’s literally in front of my condo building, yet somehow I just never found the time. I guess that with the proximity of the place, I’ve been too complacent that it will always be there for me to try.
But I finally broke the spell.
On a nice Wednesday evening, my brother and I planned to watch “The Accountant” at the cinema, but I wanted to shop more and the only time slot available was the ‘last full show’. So, that meant we had 3 hours to spare. We looked at each other and thought: what in the leaping lizards will we do within 3 hours?
Then ding! came a great idea that maybe it was finally time to try Mateo’s!
Sunnies Studios has become one of the leading local retail brands in the Philippines because of their stylish and affordable eyewear, which is why it has caused quite a stir among the millennials when the brand announced that they will be opening up a cafe.
With the very hipster and youthful style of the brand, I was really excited to witness an Instagram feed come to life in a form of a cafe.
I guess the first words I’m probably going to say to you is I’M SORRY because I owe you all an apology for not posting for months!!! (WHY DES?!)
As with other college students in their last year, I was swamped with TONS of schoolwork. I mean, I know college is stressful, but the past few months have tested my patience, mental and emotional state. Not to mention, we started working on our thesis, legit this time, and we also had to apply for internships. I was also doing some stuff for the student organization that I’m part of, whose members I already consider my second family. They also support my blog and ka-echosan all the way!
To put it simply, I had a lot on my plate and they were not food, much to my chagrin.
To give you guys a little update, I’ve already graduated from university last October 15! YAAS! So much has happened really. Hopefully, this means that I have more time to blog. Also, to make it clear, I am definitely not abandoning this blog! I’m back!!!!
Gift-giving is such a physically and mentally difficult task. The holiday season is here, but you just can’t find the perfect gift! Now that Christmas jingles are starting to play in just about every boutique, the pressure to finish Christmas shopping is intensifying.
Most of the time, our minds go blank when thinking about what to give to someone, and it’s quite frustrating.
Based on my personal experience, I realized that searching for pegs and ideas online can help a lot in choosing the best gift. Hence, I compiled my gift ideas to help you come up with the perfect present. You can opt to buy a similar item or you can even purchase the exact items listed here! 🙂
GOSH I MISSED THIS. Hello! It’s me! How have all of you been? Are you feeling the Christmas spirit already???
AND YES, IT’S CHRISTMAS BREAK!!! DOESN’T CHRISTMAS JUST MAKES YOU FEEL WARM, HAPPY, AND FUZZY INSIDE? LIKE YOU WANNA WEAR AN UGLY CHRISTMAS SWEATER AND DRINK HOT CHOCO AS YOU LISTEN TO MICHAEL BUBLÉ’S CHRISTMAS ALBUM?
I’ve already done my Christmas shopping, which is exciting, but S T R E S S F U L, I don’t even know how I managed to squeeze this in my busy busy schedule.
Allow me to say to you that I’m very satisfied with my grades this term~ I couldn’t believe I would get those since I’m in my majors now and things have gotten extra difficult that I don’t even have time to do other stuff anymore, but hey I got a chance to be part of APEC 2015 (WHICH WAS AMAZEBALLS)! Anyways, because of this, I AM VERY HAPPY and I am feeling super inspired to write! ~~
Five exams, three baby thesis chapters, quizzes here and there, and a bazillion homework later, I finally have the time to sit down in front of my laptop and not type anything academically related (but isn’t that what I am doing right now *sigh* I can never get out).
It’s so exciting to write about food again, since what I’ve been doing for the past few weeks was to write about the EU and China’s foreign aid disbursements (not that I don’t love it, because I do in fact LOVE International Studies. Studies, in general, just get too overwhelming sometimes, if ya know what I mean)
Moving on, I posted on my Instagram before that I ate in Nikkei, which I hope you still remember (???) WELL THIS IS IT. THIS IS THE BLOG POST FOR THAT INSTAGRAM POST. Please pardon my writing style for I am still reeling from theoretical perspectives and policy-making processes. I guess this is what I would coin as a writing jetlag because I’m still getting used to the shift from writing in the context of International Relations to writing in the context of food and dining. Phew.
Oh by the way, with all the acads going on, I have also been busy helping my parents in decorating our new penthouse! SO IT HAS REALLY BEEN A WHIRLWIND OF TASKS. I can’t wait to try the new restaurants in QC and share my adventures there with you guys!
SUCH A BUSY BEE I HAVE BEEN! I don’t even have time to have my eyebrows done! #firstworldproblems
So how did I have the time to eat in Nikkei then, you ask? (but if you didn’t then allow me to tell you haha)
