All Day Breakfast, Specialty Coffee, Craft Beer and Cocktails at Single Origin

Yes, you read it right. All Day Breakfast. Yipee!

Sometimes, it’s just not enough to eat breakfast during, well, breakfast. The mouthwatering smell of bacon, sausages, pancakes, and scrambled eggs always keeps our palates craving for their taste. For some reason, most of our go-to comfort food belong in the breakfast selection, and it’s probably because they remind us of cozy mornings spent in our homes as our mothers busy themselves in the kitchen.

Fortunately, restaurants have caught up in our daily cravings. Among these palate satisfiers is Single Origin where my mom and I went to catch up with close family friends, and it’s not your typical breakfast place.

Usually, restos that serve All Day Breakfast exude a very homey or diner-ish vibe, but Single Origin boasts of a relaxed space with chic brick walls lined up with wines and coffee gears, which is perfect for people who just want to unwind or study. Also, if you’re a bookish hipster who wears non-prescription glasses, then this is the place for you 😉

It’s Always Sunny at Sunnies Cafe

Sunnies Studios has become one of the leading local retail brands in the Philippines because of their stylish and affordable eyewear, which is why it has caused quite a stir among the millennials when the brand announced that they will be opening up a cafe.

With the very hipster and youthful style of the brand, I was really excited to witness an Instagram feed come to life in a form of a cafe.

Marco Polo Ortigas: Lung Hin

GOSH I MISSED THIS. Hello! It’s me! How have all of you been? Are you feeling the Christmas spirit already???

AND YES, IT’S CHRISTMAS BREAK!!! DOESN’T CHRISTMAS JUST MAKES YOU FEEL WARM, HAPPY, AND FUZZY INSIDE? LIKE YOU WANNA WEAR AN UGLY CHRISTMAS SWEATER AND DRINK HOT CHOCO AS YOU LISTEN TO MICHAEL BUBLÉ’S CHRISTMAS ALBUM?

I’ve already done my Christmas shopping, which is exciting, but S T R E S S F U L, I don’t even know how I managed to squeeze this in my busy busy schedule.

ALSO,

Allow me to say to you that I’m very satisfied with my grades this term~ I couldn’t believe I would get those since I’m in my majors now and things have gotten extra difficult that I don’t even have time to do other stuff anymore, but hey I got a chance to be part of APEC 2015 (WHICH WAS AMAZEBALLS)! Anyways, because of this, I AM VERY HAPPY and I am feeling super inspired to write! ~~

Adventures in Legazpi Village: Nikkei and Pepi Cubano

Five exams, three baby thesis chapters, quizzes here and there, and a bazillion homework later, I finally have the time to sit down in front of my laptop and not type anything academically related (but isn’t that what I am doing right now *sigh* I can never get out).

It’s so exciting to write about food again, since what I’ve been doing for the past few weeks was to write about the EU and China’s foreign aid disbursements (not that I don’t love it, because I do in fact LOVE International Studies. Studies, in general, just get too overwhelming sometimes, if ya know what I mean)

Moving on, I posted on my Instagram before that I ate in Nikkei, which I hope you still remember (???) WELL THIS IS IT. THIS IS THE BLOG POST FOR THAT INSTAGRAM POST. Please pardon my writing style for I am still reeling from theoretical perspectives and policy-making processes. I guess this is what I would coin as a writing jetlag because I’m still getting used to the shift from writing in the context of International Relations to writing in the context of food and dining. Phew.

Oh by the way, with all the acads going on, I have also been busy helping my parents in decorating our new penthouse! SO IT HAS REALLY BEEN A WHIRLWIND OF TASKS.  I can’t wait to try the new restaurants in QC and share my adventures there with you guys!

SUCH A BUSY BEE I HAVE BEEN! I don’t even have time to have my eyebrows done! #firstworldproblems

So how did I have the time to eat in Nikkei then, you ask? (but if you didn’t then allow me to tell you haha)

Of Curries and Teas: The Queens’ Banquet at the People’s Palace and Writers Bar

School has been, as expected, stressful, which is why I was looking forward to Reena’s birthday party on Friday. I was anticipating it so much that I kept asking if it was Friday already.

So when the day came, I CASTED ASIDE ALL MY SCHOOLWORKS and made way for the food and fun to come!

The day before, Tricia and I bought a cake and some balloons to surprise Reena the next day.

Reena and I share the same, not dorm, but pad (charaught), so we’re basically unofficial roomies. She comes by everyday and I cook breakfast or dinner for her with my super adorbs mini rice cooker from Cuisintec

Mandaluyong’s Hidden Gem: Galileo Enoteca Deli

*slides my way into your screens* Well hello there~

I knowwwww it’s been so long since I posted. As you all know, school has started and so has the S T R E S S. The amount of readings just won’t decrease and thesis writing has officially began, although we’re still in the process of choosing a topic. So yes, you can deduce that school has kept me occupied for the past few weeks.

MAISEN …sational!

The thing with having a long summer break is that there is plenty of time to do anything.

Now that the next school year is just around the corner, I called up my bff Reena to aura and ariba our way while we have yet to be consumed by papers, homework and exams. Since it has also dawned to her that we only have a couple of weeks left to make the most of our summer holiday, she agreed (she had no choice anyway lol) I suggested we have our date at Greenbelt because where’s a better place to aura and ariba than Greenbelt? I also thought we could finally give the latest tonkatsu place in town, Maisen, a visit~
